Dirt Road Delight is the Appalachian Soul Duo made up of~
Award winning songwriter, singer and upright bass player Tedi May and songwriter, singer and acoustic guitarist Daniel Parkin.
Tedi May grew up playing Bluegrass, Appalachian, Country and early Rock and Roll in the Missouri Ozark Mountains. Her first memory is doing the “Twist” to her Grandpa Leonard Mcfarland playing the fiddle at a mountain family Music Party…All while eating pink sugar cookies off a large plate, and drinking coffee with heaps of sugar..
Tedi earned an honors degree in Bass guitar from the Atlanta Institute of Music in 1995, and has been playing and writing ever since.
Tedi’s song of young love in the Ozark Hills~ “Lucky List” won the Prestigious “Best of New Song~Feel Good”category in September 2008 at the “Winfield~Walnut Valley Festival.”
Tedi loves music, and people, and lives her purpose of helping people feel good and spreading sunshine and cheer when performing in front of crowds all over the US and Europe.
Besides music, Tedi loves creating gourmet living food recipes like Kraut, flax crackers, green juices, and loves yoga, long walks in the clean mountain air, a weekly massage, and learning about www….
Daniel Parkin grew up singing and Harmonizing old time country, gospel, and bluegrass with his Mother and Uncles in the Mountains of Southern Tennessee. Daniel lives next door to the last gathering grounds of the Cherokee Nation. He has built his own tiny home from found materials.
Danile has a wild groundhog family for pets. His yard is an un-mowed field. He likes to keep it that way..Nothing that eats drinks or poops, so he can travel the world and play for people.
Daniel’s pure Appalachian Tenor voice has been compared to Ralph Stanley, John Denver, and Keith Whitley.
Daniel accompanies himself and Tedi with an original guitar style combining bits of Tony Rice, Doc Watson, and Merle Travis.
The Duo performs original tunes recounting stories of the mountains, moonshine cars, loving the hills, spiritual peace, old traditional Gospel and Bluegrass.
Many audience members come forward and tell us the songs remind them of family, community, and love for others, and that they feel healing and joy from listening.
The purpose of Dirt Road Delight is to help people have fun and enjoy themselves, and to give their “Dirt Roadies” of the world all the inspiration and help possible…
